But He Let Me Touch His Pennies

Story Sent in by Jenee:

In high school, John took me to a mall for our first date. He paid for a food court dinner and asked the cashier to give him as many pennies as possible as change.

When I asked him why he told me to wait and see. After we finished our food he took me to a balcony that overlooked a fountain and chucked pennies down into it. Then he started throwing pennies at people who looked up at us and yelled. I told him to stop it and he handed me some pennies and told me to throw them, too. I threw a few and then ran away with him out of the mall. Then he tried to feel me up in the bushes outside but I didn't let him get too far.

We didn't go out again because he was too immature for me.

  1. Luckily Jenee came to her senses. She thought getting felt up wasn't worth one red cent of her dignity. She wasn't going to lose her dignity in the bushes like a dime a dozen floozy.

    Proverbial penny for your thoughts?

  2. She admits to throwing coins and heavy petting with this weirdo. I would call that penny foolish and pounding foolish.

  3. Those poor people in the mall were getting pelted by pennies, but at least you weren't trying to nickle and dime them to death. I was waiting for the penny to drop in this story, but it never did. I'd like to come up with a snappy line for the OP, but I'm not good at coining phrases. Anyway, just my two cents.

  7. So she threw coins with him into the fountain... or at the people? I'm just wondering. Sounds like a bad date either way.

  9. Why does this sound like a 14 year old wrote it?

    1. The date took place in High School. So op was most likely between the ages of 14 and 18.

Oh, you mean that it seems that a 14 year old wrote it now? I have no idea how long ago this took place. Op could be fresh out of high school or 42 years old like me,pelting pennies from yonder way thinking about the penny pincher of her life that got away. The thing that puzzles me is how can two people fit in a bush? Isn't the whole, point of a bush supposed to be bushy?

    2. A penny in the hand is worth a grope in the bush...
