Don't Take Me Out to the Ballgame

Submitted by Ashlee:

I liked Trey for a while, and was really excited the day he asked me out.

Where did he take me?  To a high school baseball game.  I didn't know either team, so I wasn't as into it as he was, especially the way he cursed loudly at whichever team was losing.

I asked him what he was up to, and he told me that he thought women liked it when men acted manly.  I told him that taking a girl out to a high school baseball game and screaming at both teams from the stands was a silly way to impress her.

He then stood up, walked away from me, and sat under the stands for the rest of the game.  I didn't feel like playing along.  I watched the rest of the game very uncomfortably and when it was finally over, I tried to get him out from under the stands.  He shook his head and glared at me.

I left.  An hour later, he called to ask when we'd be hanging out again.  I told him the next time the Cubs win the World Series.

  2. Are/Were you in high school? Because if you and he are older, then that's even creepier/lamer.

  3. to be honest, im surprised the guy called back.

sure, he didnt pick the best place for a date, but if he said that he thought girls liked manly men then he was obviously trying at least and it does imply that he's not normally like that. Maybe he's normally quite shy and he was trying to compensate for that.

You didnt have to shoot him down the way you did. judging from the way he walked off you probably hurt his feelings. I think he lucked out by failing with you.

  4. Oh whine whine whine. He was a loser. If that was his pathetic attempt to look "manly", imagine actually dating this guy. You were smart to ditch him. Also how old are you? It is creepy to go to a HS game unless you're in HS or your kid is playing.

  5. Anon 11:03 proves once again that no matter how stupid and childish someone acts, that person will always be defended by someone else here.

  6. Is a high school baseball game what passes for "manly" these days?

  17. I live in MD, where we're all snowed in, so yes, I do currently have a lot of time on my hands. I don't have as much as the rest of you trolls, but...*shrug*.
"1:55" is correct, since I'm referencing the time you posted in lieu of calling you by name (because trolls don't have names).
