The Very Best Gift of All

Story Sent in by Mary:

Shortly after I started dating Charles it was my birthday and he took me out to dinner. As a gift he gave me a few gift cards including ones for the App Store, Amazon, and Home Depot. The amounts on each were $50 and I thanked him for his generosity.

I went home that night and attempted to redeem the App Store gift card but it said that it had never been activated by a cashier. Having a funny feeling, I checked the balances of the other cards and none of them had been activated.

I called Charles to let him know that none of the cards had been activated. He said I was "using them wrong" and told me to try again.

Just to be safe I again looked up the balances on each of them. As before, none of them had stored balances. It was as almost as if he had stolen them from a kiosk without paying for them. When I called him again he said that I was "definitely using them wrong," that I was a "greedy bitch," and that he didn't want to see me again.

  2. Just started dating and already op is getting a Home Depot gift card?Red Flag!Nothing say's"You're mine" like a new garden hose.Anytime someone new you're dating gives expensive gifts they want something in return like sex or control.Nothing good can come of it just like this story confirms.Liars hate being caught in a lie and will get angry and deflect the blame. And that is what Charles did.Dinner itself was a nice gift.Seeing Charles's true colors was the icing on the cake.

    1. I wouldn't have minded a Home Depot gift card, especially if I have my own place.

  5. I'm sure he didn't steal them. They probably just accidentally fell in his pocket.

  6. He obviously had no idea the gift cards had to be activated. Then, when OP asked about it, he was obviously so embarrassed he just couldn't face the shame when seeing her again. Totally reasonable rationale! /s

Archie, on an unrelated note, did you see this? ...I might believe 22 hours a day...

    1. No, I didn't see that. Yeah, what is this 22 hours a WEEK shit? I worked 22 hours a DAY and sometimes 22 hours per HOUR! Just look at that list. Architecture majors work harder than FUCKING ROCKET SCIENTIST an people studying to be FUCKING BRAIN SURGEONS! Thank god when we graduate, after working really hard for a few years, we might be allowed to design a bathroom. Totally worth it.
