Global Positioning Missed 'Em

Story Sent in by Danielle:

John had picked me up and we headed into town for dinner. He parked on the side of the street and we stepped out. He whipped out his phone and looked at it for a long time.

I finally asked, "What's wrong?"

He said, "It should be here."

We were in front of a nail salon. I pointed across the street. "There's the restaurant. Ready to go?"

He shook his head. "It should be on this side. GPS said it was on this side."

I said, "Well, it's right across the street. Maybe your GPS is just wrong."

"It's never wrong. It should be here."

"Well, now it's there. Come on. Let's go."

He said, "You go. I'll meet you there. I have to fix this."

I asked, "Fix it? How? GPS can be wrong. Can we just go to dinner?"

He jumped back into his car, said, "I'll meet you there. Just have to fix this," and drove away.

I walked across the street to the restaurant, awaiting his return. When he finally came in, he told me he parked on the restaurant side of the street and triple-checked the address. He said, "No doubt. The GPS is right. We're in the wrong restaurant."

I said, "This is the right place. Can we just have dinner?"

He said, "I can't. The world has gone to hell. Have a nice life," and left. I guess he forgot that he was also my ride.

I called my brother to pick me up and I took him out to dinner to thank him for making the evening not a total loss.

  4. Definitely someone on the spectrum or OCD.

  5. I used to find myself in transportation issues on dates. That's why you should always bring your own car. If the date goes bad... easy access to escape.
