Playtime Flies

Story Sent in by Darrell:

Kathy insisted on Burger King for dinner. She put on one of the shiny paper crowns and even climbed around in the otherwise deserted play area until one of the employees came over to explain that it was for children only. Kathy was in her mid-twenties.

When we finally walked out, Kathy said, "I'm sorry, but I'm playful. Do you like playful girls?"

"Sure," I said. I guess it was okay.

"You didn't join me in playing around, though," she said, "That hardly bodes well. What the hell?"

"I just didn't feel like it."

"Who doesn't feel like playing? Are you my dad or my boyfriend?"

It took me no time to reply, "Neither."

"Oh," she said, apparently genuinely shocked that I was not her dad nor (after barely a first date) her boyfriend. "Okay, then."

We went to see a movie and she left once it was done. My bad, I guess for not being playful enough. Or her dad.

  1. So many issues, she needs a trade paperback. What a weird chick.

  2. Maybe it's just me, but did anyone else secretly hope he responded Father. Then he could say things like, "Who's your daddy?!"

  3. Being whimsical and fun is fine, but it should be with someone who appreciates it. She can go on to find someone who acts like a rule-breaking kid 24/7, and he can go on to find someone normal. Win win!
