Wet Is the Loneliest Number

Story Sent in by Nathan:

When I was on my third date with Jeanette, I took her out to a water park. Things were going well and I had no reason to doubt that they wouldn't continue that way. As we finished lunch, we talked about which slides and rides to go on next.

At that point my phone rang. I checked it, saw it was from a platonic female friend, and put it away.

"Who was it?" Jeanette asked.

"A friend."

"A girl?"

"Yeah. Just a friend."

"Gimmie your phone."

She shrugged and leaned away as if she didn't want it anymore. "Never mind."

All right, then. Weird but forgivable, I guess...

After lunch, something kind of strange came over Jeanette. I would point out a ride and ask, "Want to try that one?"

She'd say, "No," and we'd keep going. Whereas before she was up for anything, she no longer seemed interested in the water park parts of the water park.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

Instead of answering, she stopped walking, shut her eyes, and clenched her fists tightly to her sides.

Then, she went for my bag. I had a bag to hold my towel and keep my phone safe while on the rides. She tore for it and screamed, "Let go! Let go!"

Being stronger, I ripped it away from her and asked, "What's wrong with you?" but she kept going for it.

I finally had to jump away and shout, "Enough!" in the middle of the park, in full view of other visitors.

Jeanette looked like she was about to cry. She said, "I want your phone. Give it to me."

"No. Why do you want it?"

"A girl called you."

She hit herself in the forehead as if the answer should've been obvious to me. "You got a call! Just now! From a girl!"

She stamped her feet like a beautiful prize racehorse and said, "I'm not gonna ask again!"

"You can. The answer's going to be no. Each time."

She stormed away. It was a silly thing to do, as I was her ride there. I went on a couple more rides without her, ignored her phone calls, and left on my own. How she made it home, I have no idea. Play your stupid games with someone else.

  1. lol. probably her ex cheated with his ex gf that called him on the phone during dates with her. she was crazy but not insane lol

  2. "And now the friend and I have been happily married for 3 years."

  3. "She stamped her feet like a beautiful prize racehorse"

This is the part where the story became brilliant.

  4. Oh agreed, Ladydyani --- with such good writing, I could actually picture that in my head.

  5. I love this one
