Mail of a Tale

Story Sent in by Martin:

I met up with Michelle after a workday. We grabbed drinks at a bar in the city and as we talked she reached into her bag and handed me a small pile of mail. It all had my name and address on it. It was my mail.

She said, "I picked it up at your place on the way here. Hope I wasn't overstepping any bounds."

I said, "How did you know where I live?"

"Uh... the Internet. I was just trying to be nice."

"But I would've picked it up at home in just a couple of hours."

"Yeah. So I brought it to you earlier than you would've had it. Isn't that nice of me? You're welcome."

"Uh... sure. Thanks."

  1. Wow, I wonder how long she had her eye on you? Who knows how long, the internet is a really powerful tool. Then again, she could have gone low tech.

Aside: The spelling mistakes on that last link make my eyeball twitch.

  2. (laughing) That WAS painful. Now talk about spooky ! My nosy neighbor did that once, and handed me my mail like she did a good thing. Had to tell her that not even my mother was welcome to touch my mail - so I can't imagine my horrified reaction if some crazy stranger handed it to me. brrr ~

  4. Either she was really that clueless, or it was a deliberate intimidation tactic. My money's on the latter.
