Fit to Be Thai'd

Story Sent in by Gary:

I asked Pamela if she wanted to go to a Thai restaurant or a place with pub food for our first date, as she expressed an interest in both. She picked Thai. We met at the restaurant.

"By the way: why are we here?" she asked shortly after sitting down, "I hate Thai."

I reminded her, "You picked it. Do you want to go somewhere else?"

"If that's okay."

A waiter hadn't come by for our drink orders yet, so it wasn't a problem. However, it was weird. She had definitely picked Thai. As we left, I asked her to pick out another place for dinner. She asked me if I wanted to try a Chinese place just down the road. Fine with me. We drove there in our respective cars.

When we sat down at the Chinese place, she said, "By the way: I hate Chinese. Is it cool if we go somewhere else?"

I almost yelled, "Are you kidding me? You picked this place!"

She said, "Well now I'm un-picking it. There's a good place down the road from here. You're welcome to join me."

"Okay," I said. I remained there and she left. I had a soda and an appetizer, then went home.

The next day, she sent me an email that said, "It's clear you are not a good match for me. Good luck. You will need it."

Right.
