I googled sword canes, and found many that actually come open by a button or firm tug. Also to consider, once you have the sword in one hand, you can still use the cane as a bludgeon in the other. I am married, but am considering buying one of these for walking my dog alone late at night. As much as the OP wanted to be offended, he should have some empathy that women are so afraid they take weapons regularly to first dates. It isn't personal. I was once strangled on a date.
