Rain Woman

Story Sent in by Curtis:

My first date with Elizabeth was on a cloudless March day. I arrived first to the coffee shop and waited for her.

When she arrived she showed up drenched. She said, "Sorry. It's raining cats and dogs out there."

There was a window in the front of the coffee shop and it was easy to see that it wasn't raining cats and dogs anywhere. "Where was it raining?" I asked her.

"Just over my house," she said without further explanation.

She ordered herself a drink and then went to the bathroom. She returned a few minutes later looking slightly drier. She explained that she had dried herself off as best as she could and was ready for some hot coffee.

We both lived local so I told her, "If you want to go home and change into dry clothes, I'll wait here."

She said, "It's still raining over my house, so I'll just get wet all over again. Don't worry about it!"

I couldn't figure her out. She stuck to her story and our subsequent chat was okay. But the whole thing weirded me out and I didn't ask her out again.

  1. She obviously watched way too many Helen Hunt movies. Romantic moments can only happen if the woman is soaking wet from rain:

    2. Nom! Missed you. Don't be such a stranger to the comments!

Also, yes, JC is definitely the male version of Helen Hunt.

  2. Dude, she fell into a pool or a deep puddle and was embarrassed. OR she was just crazy. Either way, she showed up wet for you and you couldn't even be a little appreciative? Big loss, OP.

    1. Good point. Not often women arrive to the date pre-wet. It was a home run OP.

  6. I once was standing at a bus station waiting for the bus, and it was raining behind the station and not before. You could see a line on the tarmac where on one side it was wet and at the other it was dry. This was in the middle of a city. Such things happen.

  8. Story doesn't say where it is, but in Florida this is completely normal. I've literally had it raining on one side of my house and not the other. Hell, one time there was a rain cloud that was only about 20-30 feet in diameter, I walked all the way around it with my arm in the rain while the rest of me was dry. It was in the 90's though, no cell phone or I would have recorded that.
