Again for the First Time

Story Sent in by Darryl:

I was prepared with a few ideas for my first date with Emily, but she headed me off at the pass and said, "I have the best idea! Just meet me at the CVS pharmacy parking lot!" The CVS acted as sort of our main town convenience store and was a local landmark, so that in and of itself wasn't at all strange.

We arrived in separate cars and she gave me a hug when she met me and asked me to follow her to her car, parked close by.

I climbed into her passenger seat, she jumped into the driver's side, shut the door, and put her hands on the steering wheel. She didn't start the engine but turned to me and said, "Let's pick it up from right where we left off."

I had no clue what she was talking about and I said nothing. So she repeated, "Let's pick it up from right where we left off."

I said, "I don't know what you're talking about."

She said, "Last time I saw you was right here, in the parking lot, just like this, in my car."

I told her that I had never so much as seen her, much less been in her car, prior to a few seconds earlier.

She said that I indeed had been in her car in that very place before. She apologized that it wasn't the same parking spot. "But I remember it like it was yesterday," she said, "It's telling that you don't."

I said, "I think you're confusing me with someone else. Honest. I've never met you before tonight, and I know I'd remember. I'm sorry."

She started to cry. What could I do? I put an arm around her and tried to soothe her and she finally put her seat back and threw an arm over her eyes. After almost 10 minutes of sitting in silence, I heard faint snores coming from her. I didn't wake her and I returned to my car and left.

Less than an hour later, I received a text from her that said, "U showed me good time. Thank u. Next week same time/place?"

I didn't respond and she never wrote me again.

  1. "No, let's meet at my place next time. I've got this bitchin' trailer full of trash and this twin brother. I think we'll all have a great time. Twice."

  2. Emily either had bad memory or was acting a fantasy.

And why not a second date? Image all the places you could go to watch her take a nap! You're the date of her dreams!
