Tastes Like Bitter

Story Sent in by Jonathan:

Tara, who I was taking out for a first date, was in a bad mood. As soon as we walked into the cafe, she said, "I don't know why we're here. I'm not even hungry."

It was around lunchtime and as I reminded her, "It was your idea to come here. What would you rather do?"

She said, "I don't really care. I shouldn't even be on a date. I'm still pissed at my ex."

The warning bell clanged so loudly in my head that I barely could hear anything else. Before I could respond, she said, "It was seven years ago, but it still pisses me off, you know?"

I didn't. She then gave me a quick hug and said, "You'll make some girl happy and marry her tomorrow. Let me grow into the spinster I was clearly meant to be!" She then left me there, so I had lunch by myself. No sense in wasting a visit.

  1. Op, you should have shown her some love.

  2. Well at least you didn't have to pay for her lunch. Bullet dodged.

  3. There is some great self awareness in this story.

@ Blue Blue - Are you sure? This girl was wearing a dress made out of red flags. Her car had a custom paint job of 1000 waving red flags and a custom plate that spelled REDFLG! But you're probably right. The love of a man could have fixed it all.

  4. @ Architect, if a man could love her and show her the love that she desires, she wouldn't be so bitter.
