A Link to the Past

Story Sent in by Valerie:

One of my favorite bars was the setting for my date with Chad. When our first drinks were served, I went to pick mine up, but he told me to wait, and then he picked up his and initiated that thing where you put your drink over and around the other person's arm so that you're linking arms to sip your own drink.

It was a little weird for him to try that move on a first date, but I went with it, drank, and put my wine down. We chatted for a bit, and then I reached for my wine again.

"Hold it!" he said, startling me. He grabbed his glass and made to link-arm drink again.

"I'm good," I informed him. One corny move was enough.

"But we have to do it that way," he said.

I drank my wine, gave him a smile, and put my wine down. He looked at me like he really couldn't believe I'd transgress so flagrantly. He looked really hurt.

In a few moments he recovered, then asked the bartender for the check. He asked me, "You don't mind spitting this, do you? I mean, this is more like I'm out with a friend than someone I might be into romantically, you know?"

"I don't get it," I said, "Just because I wouldn't drink that way you wanted me to?"

"Nope," he said, but that's all the explanation he gave, then asked again, "You'll pay for your own drink, right?"

"Sure, whatever," I told him.

He muttered, "God, you are such a typical woman. Typical, typical, typical, typical..." he repeated over and over again.

I didn't say anything to that, but put down my money and let the sad, angry man go away.

  2. I hate it when guys act like idiots and then blame all women. So annoying. Anyway you dodged one op. Not sure if she would have wanted this guy to cure her evs. If she didn't do things exactly his way in bed she'd be called a typical woman. "You didn't let me shove my dick down your throat til you choked. Typical woman..."
