Slow on the Uptake

Story Sent in by Whitney:

I was on a walk through the city with Casey when he slapped a hand to his forehead and stopped short.

"Aw, man!" he said, "Know what I miss? Freeze tag!" He tapped my shoulder and said, "You're it!" and he ran a few steps ahead of me.

I wasn't in any kind of shoes that could really keep up with him, but I tried my best. He laughed at me and kept a good pace ahead, screaming back words of encouragement like, "Come on, fat-butt!" and "Maybe if you ate a few less donuts, you'd catch up."

Eventually I stopped wanting to play and I asked him if we could do lunch. He said, "You don't look like you need any more food. But you can watch me eat."

He took me to a fast food place and while we were there I left the table to "use the bathroom" but instead I just left.

I wasn't sure if he'd contact me, and he sent me a final message that read, "I can only hope you're taking so long because you're jogging around the block a few hundred times."

I didn't reply and he didn't try to contact me at all, so I think he must've worked it out.

Is that how you define "play?" Running after your date while he callously insults you for his own amusement? Because maybe you should date my friend's cat - he defines "play" in exactly the same way. I think you'd make a lovely couple - he could claw you, and you could take it like a doormat! Such synergy!

But seriously - if any guy "playfully" calls you Fat-Butt, and your response to that is "Let's have lunch!" then there's a serious lack of self-awareness going on here.

Remember, it's not a lie since your home undoubtedly has a bathroom in it, and you will eventually make use of it.

  4. Oh, OP, honey. Hopefully, this date has taught you a little more self respect. Why would you continue to hang out with someone who treated you so badly? Life is short. Next time just walk away for real and tell the idiot why to his face. Just my two cents.

  5. Yep - he was just not bothered and wanted to ditch you.
